What kaomoji are
Kaomoji are faces drawn with characters, popular in Japan since the early days of the internet. Unlike Western smileys such as :), they are read without tilting your head: (^▽^). They use characters from Japanese, Korean, Thai, Greek and other scripts, so the same face can look a little different on different phones.
In the keyboard
The Fonts & Tags keyboard has a kaomoji panel with bears, characters, cute faces and more, next to symbols and Egyptian hieroglyphs. This page has a wider collection for the web.
