Bold without a bold button

Bios, names and comments usually have no formatting. Bold Unicode letters solve that: they are separate characters, so the text stays bold after you paste it. Sans Bold looks closest to the interface of most apps; Serif Bold is more classic; the italic, script and gothic versions add character.

Only Sans Bold also turns digits bold; the other styles keep digits plain.

Use it for emphasis

One or two bold words in a caption draw the eye; a whole paragraph of bold letters is harder to read. Screen readers may spell styled letters one by one, so keep important information in plain text.
